BRANDON GILLAM

My Mission:

My goal is to be a concept artist on the world's coolest games. I want to be pushed to new heights by my teammates, tell stories, and inspire others with my work. My specialty is in the variety, quantity, and speed of idea development. I am a lifetime gamer and love to share my passion for games with everyone!

Education:

Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Colorado University in Boulder, 1995.

I have a double Bachelor's in Anthropolgy and Philosophy.

Work Experience:

VR-1 Entertainment 1996-2000, Illustrator, Lead Artist, Creative Director

At VR-1 I shipped two titles, ULTRACORPS (click the link to see the game still being played by thousands of people!) and EVERNIGHT (click the link to see this game, also still holding on to a cult following of players!). Both were massive multiplayer strategy titles. I also worked on many prototypes, marketing materials, and game concepts.

Maximum Charisma Studios 2000-2002 Art Director, Co-Founder, and Game Designer

Here I shipped our huge MMORPG called FIGHTING LEGENDS in 2002. I mentored 8 artists in modeling, animation, texturing, and world-building using MAYA and in-house tools.

Full Armor Studios 2002-2004 Lead Artist

This small game studio shipped 5 casual PC titles! Walls of Jericho, Secret Chamber, Library of the Ages, Manna Munchers, and our super-hit David vs. Goliath. The company was acquired by Zango.

Zango Games 2004 Lead Artist

Here I shipped two great games, JADE SHADOW and BRAINONZ. I also worked on several game prototypes. After one year, our contract was completed.

Fuzzy Games 2005-2008 Co-Founder, Lead Artist and Game Designer

Here I shipped CANNON BLAST! and FAB FASHION, working closely with Real Arcade.

Software:

Over the years I have learned to adapt to all kinds of production setups including: MAYA, Softimage, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Premier, Painter, and dozens of small scale utilities and custom content tools. Although 3D tools have always been a part of my work, I believe a strong emphasis in hand-drawn material is the foundation of all great artwork.

Personal Info:

I was born in Guam in '73, moved to Colorado, and eventually came to live in Seattle. I have been playing and making tabletop and video games since I was about 9 years old. When I’m not busy doing artwork, I restore and tune vintage motorcycles, fabricate custom bicycle frames, and melt my eyes on games.  I make a valuable addition to any team because I go all out on the project set before me, and make a strong Sarge or grunt! For the Horde!

Favorite Games:

Metroid, Metal Gear ACID, Gears of War, Zelda series, Worms, Orions, Warcraft 2, Legend of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Master Blaster, Metal Slug, Contra, TMNT, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, R-Type, Golden Axe, Starcraft, Pokemon Pinball, Bionic Commando, Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter Alpha, Super Mario 2, and too many others!
